(January 4 - Latham, NY) – Senator Catherine M. Young (R-Jamestown/Rochester) paid a visit to Olean Area FCU during the holiday season to tour the credit union and meet with their staff.
Leading the tour, during which the Senator spoke with service representatives from the credit union’s mortgage and member service areas, was Dan Rourke, CEO of Olean Area FCU. They were also accompanied by senior staff members Brian Snyder, VP/Lending; Lee Ann Dineen, VP/HR & Operations and Mary Palumbo, VP/Finance & IT.
The group spoke about the 35 year history of their credit union and how it has upheld credit union’s "people helping people" philosophy. They also chatted about the services Olean Area FCU provides to those of modest means, as well as about issues of importance to the credit union industry.
"Hosting a visit from Senator Cathy Young was similar to a family reunion," said Dan Rourke, the credit union’s CEO. "Senator Young, as it turned out, knows many of our employees from working side-by-side with them on many community involvement projects here in the Olean area. The meeting with the Senator also gave us the opportunity to explain the challenges we face as an industry and the good we do for our members from all walks of life on a daily basis."
Olean Area FCU was chartered in 1972. It currently has over 18,000 members and more than $140 million in assets.
