Murphy & O’Connor Earn CMP Designation

(March 14 - Latham, NY) – Terri Murphy and Pamela O’Connor, education and event planners for the New York State Credit Union League, have earned their Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation from the Convention Industry Council. They were among 393 professionals worldwide to receive the CMP designation following an examination Feb. 2 in New York City. The exam was the culmination of a program in which candidates must demonstrate experience in the field and responsibility for successful meetings.

Keith Sexton-Patrick, CMP, Director of Convention Services at Mohegan Sun and Chair of the CMP Board, commended the newest class of CMPs "for demonstrating high standards of proficiency in meeting management, which is not only a milestone in each individual's professional development, but proof of the individual’s commitment to promoting the growth of the industry."

Murphy and O’Connor are responsible for the coordination of the League’s numerous educational training sessions and webinars, as well as the organization’s annual Business Meeting, Governmental Affairs Conference and Convention.

"The League is proud to have Terri and Pam on our team," said William J. Mellin, president/CEO of the League. "I commend them both for their dedication, professionalism and of course their recent accomplishment."

The Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation recognizes individuals who have achieved the industry's highest standard of professionalism. Established in 1985, the CMP program was developed to increase the proficiency of meeting professionals in all segments of the industry. The requirements for certification are based on professional experience and an academic examination administered and monitored by an independent testing agency on all functions of meeting management.

The New York State Credit Union League (NYSCUL) has served as the trade association for the state’s credit unions for 91 years. It is the fifth largest league in the country.
