(April 16 - Latham, NY) – Gigi Hyland, National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) board member and chair of their Outreach Task force, will speak at the New York State Credit Union League’s Annual Business Meeting, May 20 in Albany, NY.
Hyland will be providing an overview of NCUA, including key exam issues, as well as reporting on NCUA’s Outreach Task Force.
The task force was created to provide a better understanding and evaluation of the findings from the Member Service Assessment Pilot Program: A Study of Federal Credit Union Service. The pilot program was created in response to a request from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and the House Ways and Means Committee.
Hyland will also touch on the U.S. Treasury’s "blueprint" for a modernized financial regulatory structure and NCUA’s reaction to the plan unveiled last month by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson.
Hyland joined the NCUA Board in 2005 after serving the credit union community for 14 years. She also serves as NCUA Board representative on the NeighborWorks®
America Board of Directors and as the Board’s liaison to the Department of Defense, the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS). Prior to her appointment, Hyland served as senior vice president, general counsel for what is now Members United Corporate Federal Credit Union in Albany, New York. Ms. Hyland’s term expires August 2, 2011.
