Credit Union Development Educator Designation Bestowed on Doney

Allison Doney(April 17 - Latham, NY) – Latham resident Allison Doney, community development coordinator for the New York State Credit Union League, has just received accreditation as a Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE).

Initiated in 1982, the Credit Union Development Education (DE) Program is an interactive training presented by the National Credit Union Foundation. It was created to help credit union people, both nationally and internationally, focus on the uniqueness and philosophy of credit unions and to understand them as cooperative tools for improving people’s lives.

Graduates of the intensive six-day DE program learn how to apply training principles of social responsibility to reach out to those most in need of quality, affordable financial services, particularly those in low-income communities. There are more than 600 development educators around the world who share credit union’s philosophy and mission, and network on how to apply them to today’s credit union movement.

"The League congratulates Allison on her attainment of the CUDE designation," said William J. Mellin, president/CEO, New York State Credit Union League. "The training she acquired will definitely be a tool to utilize in carrying out credit unions’ ‘people helping people’ philosophy through the League’s community outreach efforts."

The New York State Credit Union League (NYSCUL) has served as the trade association for the state’s credit unions for 91 years. It is the fifth largest league in the country. New York credit unions have assets of more than $39 billion and 4.2 million members. To learn more about the League, visit www.nyscul.org.
