Community Resource FCU, in association with the Hudson Mohawk Runners Club, hosted the third annual Fun Run for Kids on Sunday, June 15 at the Crossings in Colonie. There were 274 adults and 80 children that participated in the event that raised $7,456 to help the Capital District Community Gardens program. (6/23/08)

(Top Photo) Ten-year breast cancer survivor, Rose DeSorbo, with “Faith,” the plush Saint Bernard dog that Capital Communications Care Foundation handed out to each of the breast cancer survivors at the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Albany. “Faith” is the fourth in a collection of keepsake animals that have been given to survivors. The Foundation has been one of the flagship sponsors of the Walk since it began in April twelve years ago.

Community Resource FCU has awarded its TeenSmarts college scholarship to Allison Tomaszewski of Clifton Park. TeenSmarts is a financial program for young adults aged 13 to18 which helps provide teens with financial knowledge so they are capable of handling their own finances when the time comes for them to leave home for college or a career. On December 4, SEFCU staffers loaded a U-Haul with hundreds of pounds of school supplies and departed for Louisiana. They delivered the supplies to schools damaged by Hurricane Katrina, as well as a $25,000 check to Varnado High School. (1/13/06)

The Capital Communications Cares Foundation raffled off $13,000 in monetary prizes at its BIG Benefit Raffle drawing. The raffle raised $37,000 for local charities and organizations.
