Member Outreach & Reinvestment Endeavor (‘MORE’) Resource Center
'MORE' is a
New York State Credit Union League program designed to assist credit unions
in their efforts to fulfill and document their social mission. The Resource
Center is the first phase of this program.

| All New Yorkers have a stake in the health and viability of
our local communities, particularly our state’s underserved areas. Reinvesting
in communities is nothing new to credit unions, and it fits perfectly with the
credit union philosophy of “people helping people.” Today, you will find credit unions firmly rooted in the communities in which we serve – whether it’s supporting local charities, offering financial education seminars, operating student branches or various other outreach activities. Credit unions are committed to our members and the communities we serve – not because we are mandated to do so, but because it is an inherent part of our reason for being. In the wake of heightened scrutiny by Congress and federal agencies, coupled with more frequent and more aggressive attacks by the banking industry, the significance of credit union outreach and reinvestment in our members and communities we serve has never been more important. The time has come for New York’s credit unions to demonstrate that we are improving the financial lives of our members and communities we serve voluntarily and proactively. It is through these efforts that we will thwart the bankers’ unjustified criticism and ensure we can continue to serve our members without additional legal or regulatory mandates. This site is part of your efforts and provides resources to assist you in your outreach and reinvestment efforts. |
