(October 25 - Latham, NY) – During a recent visit to the New York metropolitan area, U.S. Representative James T. Walsh (R-Central New York) visited United Nations FCU (UNFCU) at their new Long Island City location.
Upon arrival, Walsh was given a tour of the new building. He then met with the credit union’s senior management team for an informal roundtable discussion. Topics included regulatory environment, taxation, credit union structure, the CU/bank difference, and Capitol Hill happenings.
The group made a point of extending their many thanks to the Congressman for his strong support of credits unions and his signing on as a co-sponsor of the Credit Union Regulatory Improvement Act (CURIA).
"Congressman Walsh’s support of the credit union movement is truly commendable. We sincerely appreciate the work he does in Congress on behalf of the 89 million credit union members in the US. We were honored to introduce him to UNFCU and our new headquarters in Long Island City, NY." said Michael J. Connery, Jr, president/CEO.
Now in his tenth term, Walsh represents New York’s 25th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He is perennially endorsed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce, the NFIB (National Federation of Independent Business) and others for his stands against government waste and his support of balanced budgets and tax reform.
