At Roundtable Discussion(November 14 - Latham, NY) – The New York State Credit Union League recently hosted their 3rd annual CEO roundtable for credit unions with assets up to $50 million.
Thirty CEOs and managers from affiliated credit unions attended the roundtable event in Albany to explore mutually beneficial opportunities for cooperation and collaboration.
League President/CEO William J. Mellin and Board Chair John Prumo (GPO FCU) were also in attendance.
"The CEO roundtable is an example of a high-level event facilitated by the League to bring together credit union leaders for the common benefits of credit unions," said Mellin. This is a valuable opportunity for CEOs to discuss their shared goals, and the League is proud to host such a forum."
During this year’s gathering, two CEO dialogue and open discussion sessions, facilitated by Travis Heiser, Inner Lakes FCU, were the perfect venue for participants to converse on credit union topics such as disaster recovery preparedness, risk-based lending, liquidity challenges and board relations. Also discussed were potential areas for future collaboration, including business lending and student loan programs.
The group also heard presentations on credit union growth in today’s challenging marketplace and how the latest trends in executive benefits can be used to attract, incent and maintain credit union leaders and help prepare for succession planning.
Helping to plan this year’s event, which received excellent ratings from the participants, was a steering committee that included: Richard Gerien, British Airways EFCU; Larry Hitchcock, Rome Teachers FCU; and Vicki O’Neill, ACMG FCU.
"It was a privilege to be involved in the planning process for this worthwhile event," said O’Neill. "Opportunities like this that foster collaboration and cooperation among our peers go a long way when looking at how we can better serve our members."
The League also has a ListServ available for CEOs/managers that are looking to continue networking with their peers on an ongoing basis.
The New York State Credit Union League (NYSCUL) has served as the trade association for the state’s credit unions for 90 years. It is the fifth largest league in the country.
